they practice high speed turns all the time I have donr one in a 365 meter ship a DDG (brisbane) at 33 knots the whole thing is vibrating like hell and what a lean. And the new anzac class ships we have they can be going at 30 knots and stop and be going backwards in less than the length of the ship. My mate was on the melbourne when the tested it he reckons it nearly feel to peices but it worked they have a variable pitch prob the main shaft turns the same way all the time the just turn the prop on the shaft

Actually the front is truning right while the back end is sliding to the left. It's a sharp turn there. So it's going both ways

Its a hard turn to the left, with the ship banking to the right, no aircraft on deck for this trick m8, Sorry mick, i'll find you a couple of shot's But,, [smilie=halm[1].gif]
Ans Nice One Bollard....We use the ships Prop to Slice and Dice the ice, in the northern water, yo drive backwards to cut up the Ice to get your ship through it..... Crazy eh..
